Amarr Roller Replacement: The Aurora Owner’s Guide

Amarr roller replacement in Aurora typically runs $110-$220 installed, and we stock the common sizes for same-day service on most calls. We match the roller to your specific Amarr model series before quoting, not after we take the door apart. Most Aurora homeowners notice the problem first as a grinding rumble when the door moves, or the door jumping its track during the morning commute.

Which Amarr Models This Applies To

Amarr has produced three distinct roller systems across its residential lines, and mixing them up is the most common compatibility error we see. The Stratford, Lincoln, and Oak Summit collections built before 2019 used a standard 2-inch stem roller with a 7/16-inch diameter shaft. The newer Hillcrest, Carriage Court, and Olympus lines shifted to a sealed-bearing nylon roller on a slightly thicker 1/2-inch stem, which will bind if forced into the older hardware.

To identify yours: check the sticker on the inside top edge of the door section for the model prefix, then measure the stem diameter with a basic caliper or even a tape measure held close. The roller wheel itself is either steel (noisy, durable, found on builder-grade Stratford installs throughout Aurora’s Copperleaf and Saddle Rock subdivisions) or nylon (quieter, wears faster in Colorado’s UV and freeze-thaw cycles). We carry both OEM Amarr rollers and a quality aftermarket equivalent from DURA-LIFT that meets the same load rating at a lower unit cost. The Haven Standard requires we show you both options with their part numbers before you choose.

Signs Your Amarr Roller Replacement Is Failing

Signs Your Amarr Roller Replacement Is Failing
  • Grinding or rumbling during open/close cycles. The roller bearings have dried out or the nylon wheel has flattened on one side, causing metal-on-metal contact inside the track. This sound usually starts in winter when Aurora’s cold temperatures thicken whatever grease remains.
  • Door visibly shakes or shimmies as it moves. One or more rollers have developed flat spots or the stem has bent slightly, creating an uneven rolling surface that transmits vibration through the entire section.
  • Roller has popped out of the track entirely. The stem has worn enough play into the roller bracket that the roller disengages under load, often at the curve where the vertical track meets the horizontal. This is the point where most DIY attempts turn into emergency calls.
  • Door feels heavier than usual or the opener strains. Seized rollers add friction that the opener motor must overcome; we measure this in amp draw, but homeowners feel it as sluggish movement or a labored motor sound.
  • Visible cracks in the nylon wheel or rust bleeding from the bearing. Colorado’s low humidity slows rust, but the temperature swings from 60-degree afternoons to 15-degree nights cause condensation inside the bearing race that accelerates corrosion on steel components.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Service Price Range
Single roller replacement (1-2 rollers) $110-$160
Full set replacement (10-12 rollers, standard door) $160-$220

The range depends on three factors: how many rollers need replacement (we replace in matched sets when more than two have failed), whether you choose OEM Amarr or the DURA-LIFT equivalent, and whether the roller brackets or track itself has damage from the failed roller riding loose. Every quote is flat and written before work starts, per Clause 1 of The Haven Standard. The price you approve is the price on the invoice. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the installation and the parts.

Here’s where the line sits. You can safely inspect your rollers: disconnect the opener, lift the door to waist height, and wiggle each roller in its bracket to feel for play or rough rotation. You can also vacuum the track and apply a silicone-based lubricant to quiet minor noise.

What you should not do: remove a roller from the track while the door is under any spring tension. The bottom rollers sit in brackets that are also under cable load, and the top rollers are positioned where the door’s weight shifts between vertical and horizontal planes. A slipped wrench here can drop a 150-pound door section or release a cable under hundreds of pounds of tension. We document this with a photo of the loaded hardware before we touch anything, per Clause 4. If you’re unsure which roller type you have or whether the bracket itself is worn, call (720) 477-6050. We’ll quote the range before we leave the truck.
